In 2005, the band finally made their work public through their first album release, All We Know is Falling. This was a fitting release for an emo band considering that it communicated what members felt when Jeremy Davis left. The album is the closest the group has come to conventional punk but it did not lead to overwhelming success for them. Davis jumped right back into the group after only a few months but other changes took place. Hunter Lamb took over Bynum’s role but also eventually left.

At the beginning of 2007, the creation of more Paramore albums seemed obvious. It was on this year that Riot! came out and entered the Billboard 200 at 20. Although it didn’t debut with a bang, the album did reach platinum in the U.S. At around the same time the band tasted their first success, Taylor York came in as rhythm guitarist to replace Lamb.

There was more in store for the group in 2008. They took center stage on Alternative Press’ February cover after they were voted 2007’s best band by readers. To top this recognition, they were nominated for a Grammy Award. Shortly after this, they launched their first tour called The Final Riot. By the end of it, two of their songs were already in the Twilight soundtrack. In September 2009, Brand New Eyes was released. It is the group’s most successful work in the charts to date.

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia is home to the band Parkway Drive. It was in 2002 that band members first came together. From that time, the group has been able to release two split albums, two albums, one EP and one DVD.

Band History

Parkway Drive has a unique story to its name. The band name is lifted from a real street in Byron Bay. A year later, the album made its way to the US after they signed up with Epitaph Records. Around that time, bass player Shaun Cash left the band in good terms with the other members because of personal issues.

The other bass player, Brett Versteeg left as well. The band was still able to move on when the band’s long-time friend Jia “Pie” O’Connor took over the bass player role. More tours followed, fueling more popularity amongst Australian metal fans and more tour merch sales. The “Don’t Close Your Eyes” EP was also re-released containing tracks from their split EP and earlier tracks present in the Byron Bay Hardcore compilation. Their second Parkway Drive album titled “Horizons” also met critical praise.

Albums Out

“Killing with a Smile” served as their debut album recorded in 2005 and released in the US 2006. The album played a major role in giving the band international recognition. Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage fame produced the album.

Although the first album was a good one, it was the second album, “Horizons” that really solidified the band’s international foothold. It has reached multi platinum status in the US and is on the sixth slot on the ARIA charts. To date, it is the band’s bestselling album made more appealing by the live performances included in it.

Vocalist Winston McCall announced in 2010 that Parkway Drive is working on a new album claiming that it “will be their rawest and heaviest record to date.” Subsequent updates were posted on online avenues including MySpace and their blog. There is no word on the title of the album or how many tracks it would contain, but the album will be released after their current European Tour and before the Vans Warped Tour to start on June 2010.
