The Necessary Carcassonne Amusement Is A Great Tile/Board Amusement

November25

I’ll be honest with you, when I first heard the hype about the Carcassonne game I was very skeptical. I wasn’t sure a game which involved just picking and playing tiles on your turn and then claiming certain areas of the gameboard would be for me. I was even more nervous that my wife would not like it because she prefers games that are light without many complicated rules and this one sounded complicated to us. After playing the game we found out we couldn’t have been more wrong. The game is easy to learn and is actually a lot of fun for groups of two to five players.

The basics of the sport are only that … BASIC. You commence the sport with all the tiles turned completed leave off for the starting tile. Each player has eight meeples (which are tiny figurines) and use single on the scoring room and the new seven to claim fields of the sport room as it is constructed. On your turning the measures are easy. You make a tile, area it on the playing domain so at to the lowest degree single of it’s sides is flush with different pieces side and that it meets certain placement guidelines (more on these below). After placing the tile you could want to play single of your meeples on a route, castle, farm, or cloister on the part you only played. You are not involved to play a meeple on your turning though. After that any finished tile skin tone are scored and the meeples from those skin tone are returned to the proprietor.

As long as the principles for placing a tile they are rather essential. As cite, you essential create sure single edge is flush against the edge of different part on the room, you can’t play them so they simply feeling at the corners. Moreover you essential check the skin tone of your tile, if it has a road the part you play it next to essential link with that route, this is the identical for cities and farms. On that point are besides principles for playing meeples. First, IF you play single on your turning it essential be on the part you only played. Moreover if on that point is already a meeple on a element that your part connects to you can’t play your meeple in that element on your tile.

Developing a game about solving equations will probably not be a hit since far too few people relate to it. These are the main factors that create a fix xbox 360 game, if these factors are followed you will probably have a pretty good game. There are of course other elements that make a difference; marketing is one of them that will be more important as the gaming scene grows.

How Your TV Viewing Habits Are About to Change

November24

There isn’t any room left for doubt that the way we watch television is constantly changing. In the past several years, the coming sea change in the way that we view television entertainment became starkly evident. Considering how many people are watching TV online, for example, TV executives wonder how the old business model of selling commercial time will stand up in this new environment.

Considering that the old model of paying top dollar for commercial time seems to be fading away – at least in part – new ideas and ways of marketing can bring small business professionals into the world of big-time advertising. Imagine being able to click on Ringcentral reviews in a menu during a business show downloaded from one of the cable networks. Or even being able to purchase a small ad on a webpage where one might download the latest episode of their favorite software review show. TV executives must consider these things as they confront the new advertising age.

Being able to get Ringcentral reviews at the click of your television remote is just one of the may ways that consumers can win in the new TV environment. Content on-demand is ultimately what consumers are clamoring for in the new world of television. The use of DVR and Tivo grows each year, as well as cable and satellite boxes that allow consumers to download content. One can only assume that the day is not far off when video stores are rare, as most will just download movies straight into their living room for viewing.

It seems that interactive viewing is the true future of television entertainment. It’s pretty clear that many TV executives didn’t think the day would be here so soon, but with 72% of viewers (according to a recent Harris poll) currently using their remotes to search for programs, download on-demand programming, and setting DVRs to record, time is of the essence to capitalize on these new habits. Consumers look forward to a bright future with extensive entertainment options. The more options that exist, the more targeted advertisers can be to reach their desired audience.

Free Poker Etiquette for Poker Tournaments

November23

For the last few months I have been spending a lot of my poker playing time at free poker site NoPayPOKER. I originally joined to practice my game and learn the art of poker without actually losing any of my own cash. Since then I have made some great friends on the site and am not intending on leaving any time soon.

Now, with that said, there is the downside to not only playing on NPP but other free poker sites as well. People who never heard the term Poker Nice. Poker Nice? It’s about being polite, having and using your poker skills, and enjoying the thrill of the game. There will always be a few who would love to take the fun out of playing by being abusive, harassing, nasty even. I ask myself, what is their motivation, why would anyone take pleasure in being downright ugly. I don’t loathe people like that I actually feel quite sorry for them. If that is how they get their fun then something must be very sad within themselves.

Everyone is going to have a bad beat, get “donked” out. We all get frustrated at times. We can scream at the monitor and shake our heads in utter contempt, but instead of showing bad manners by becoming rude, why not show good sportsmanship. Respect the hand and move on to the next one. If you think about it, would you behave poorly or talk nastily in a casino? I would think most players would not (apart from Phil Helmuth). So why do it when playing online poker?

The next time you lose a hand to a bad call, bad beat, or just get “donked” out, before you start typing take a deep breath and think about if you would say the same to someone sitting across from you at a live game.

I wish that everybody would remember what poker is all about and that it’s all about having fun . We’re all going to win some and lose some, but that’s gambling. Just remember everyone is there to play the great poker tournament game of Hold’em and have fun. And of course to win with honour and lose with grace!

Most Pirated Films

November22

Watching movies online is quite a different experience than watching them on the big screen — or even a television set, for that matter. There will always be a market for a well-produced DVD. However, there are so many disappointing films out these days that it can be tricky trying to decide which new movies are worth our hard-earned dollars. With two movie tickets edging up to $20, not including concessions, the “cheap date out” is now on par with other types of entertainment. There are many different levels for selecting movies these days. Is it worth seeing for full price? Is a matinee the better deal? Should I rent at Blockbuster or Redbox, or should I download? Here are some of the most pirated movies from 2008.

The Dark Knight was the biggest hit at the box office in 2008 and also the most pirated movie, according to data collected by www.torrentfreak.com. The movie raked in $1 billion at theaters worldwide but was also downloaded 7.03 million times. According to TorrentFreak, “Comments on various BitTorrent sites reveal that many downloaders obtained an illegal copy after they had already watched the movie in the movie theater.” Perhaps the window of time with films is interfering with the consumers’ desire to have immediate access. Thomas Rubin, chief counsel for Intellectual Property Strategy at Microsoft, suggests that many people download new movies and music not because they want to steal it for free, but because they want access and more flexible ways to consume it.

Yet these numbers only reflect how many times films have been downloaded from sites — not how many times the file gets passed around on peer-to-peer sites. Even marginally successful movies like Transporter 3 and The Day The Earth Stood Still have been shared across networks over 8 million times already. In music news, piracy and illegal music downloads have dropped 25% from December 2007 to January 2008 as more and more people sign up to free music streaming sites like Pandora, Spotify and Last FM. However, analysts aren’t so sure if this will extend to videos or not. Ten of the most pirated TV shows (like Heroes and Lost) can also be found on film streaming sites like Hulu, VEOH and major TV network sites.

In April of 2009, The Pirate Bay, a popular source for pirated movies online, was shut down. Its administrators were forced to pay $3 million in fines and spend a year in a Swedish prison. In the meantime, the websites www.mininova.org and www.isohunt.com picked up many of The Pirate Bay’s followers and continued to be a source of on-demand films content. Perhaps in the future, film distributors will experiment with alternate distribution models that appeal to consumers’ desire to have the movies they want, when they want and how they want; but, for now, the battle rages on.

Playing Heads Up Poker – Free Poker Online

November21

Free poker online is becoming massive in the online gambling business, and although Texas Hold’em is still huge with poker, if you are looking to play something different its worth giving Heads Up poker a try.

Heads up games are a whole new ball game from a regular ten player match at the tables. The percentages drastically change when you go one-on-one. You no longer have to worry, when you have a really great hand, about someone else having an even better hand, (usually!)

Pairs go a long way in head to heads. I’ve seen more pairs of two’s win in a head to head, than I’ve seen pocket kings win at a multi-player table. Pockets that you once thought useless, will now be desired. Rags will bring you riches. Nearly your entire poker strategies will be thrown out the door.

You can’t sit around waiting for the perfect hand in a heads to head game. Continually folding hands that you think will turn up bad are going to leave you losing all of your money.

If you have a decent pair, try to stick around for a while. You may find that your money doubles and you win the match. It’s a great challenge that may never be mastered.

Though many things change in a head-to-head and low pairs can win the game, don’t hold on to everything.

If the flop and turn comes up and you still have nothing, it is probably best to get out. While your chances increase to a 50% chance, so does your opponents.

Be smart with your play and try to read what the man beside you is thinking.

Bluffing usefulness is also greatly increased in a head-to-head. Find out what you can get away with and use it as much as possible. It may be the difference between winning and losing.

Overall, don’t be careless. Play the cards you are given and make them work for you.

It is well worth playing free poker online if you are new to heads up poker and want to get some practice in so you don’t rush in and lose all of your cash.

Just How Bad Is Movie Piracy?

November21

In the past, movie piracy bootleggers snuck video cameras into movie premieres and came out with grainy, recorded versions of new movies. Kids would then find these movies online and download them (for free) in mass droves. However, the MPAA has a more sophisticated enemy to contend with these days, as more and more near-perfect copies get pressed into cheap DVDs, which are then distributed online, giving the box office and DVD manufacturers a more legitimate run for their money. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “The Hulk” and “Star Wars III” have been some of the biggest upsets in recent years, costing the movie industry billions of dollars.

One approach to putting an end to the piracy of movies is to crack down harder on the source of the pirated copies. According to Executive director of the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft, Neil Gane, “Over 90 per cent of first-release pirated movies originate from illegal recordings being made in cinemas.” He says they’re working closely with cinema management to combat new download and pirated DVD leaks. He adds, “We are also focusing on syndicates that download and manufacture in large quantities, looking to cut off that element of supply.” Recently, a South Australian man received a 7-month suspended jail sentence for possessing more than 10,000 pirated movies, as well as DVD burning equipment.

Some of the anti movie piracy efforts seem a little misguided. For instance, Lionsgate, Paramount and Warner Brothers recently agreed to release some old and new movies in online/Div-X format through a store called “Film Fresh.” The problem here is that they’re assuming people are pirating videos because they really want to watch them on their computers, rather than at a theater or on their television sets. In reality, the computer is usually just the easiest way for people to get their hands on a movie that hasn’t come out just yet. It’s also the quickest way to share new content with friends and family. The motion picture companies believe that people will register with Div-X for the “privilege” of being able to buy these great movies for just $10 to $16 in the digital format. Yet it’s unlikely to put a dent in the bootlegging business.

Combating movie piracy may seem like a basic issue, as people wonder, “Why not just clamp down on the people making the movie if all these new releases seem to be high-quality inside jobs?” Yet, on a big production, there could be as many as 500 people working on top movies from the film shoot to the editing suite to the distribution channels. Naturally, policing every individual is an insurmountable task. Once the first leak occurs, it’s even harder to track down the movie’s pathway to the masses as millions of downloads and file sharing transactions occur in mere moments. “We’re doing everything we can to keep up with the learning curve of technology,” says Keith Bolcar, a cyber crime FBI agent from LA, “hopefully just as fast as our criminal subjects.”

Best choices for home theater movies

November20

If you have invested in all of the knobs and whistles of a complete Home Theater System, the wide-screen Hi-D TV, surround sound speakers and the most recent in DVD technology, the very last thing you need to do is watch flicks that don’t give your system the workout it merits. These are some of the finest DVD flicks to offer you the final home theater experience. Without questions, action and journey films were made for the home theater screen as well as the big-screen. There’s nothing that gives a home theater owner a better experience than a film where the action is complex, graphic, and frequent. Sadly, a large amount of action films made today are seriously lacking when it comes to being worth using the time to look at on home theater.

There are some gems, however. At the pinnacle of the list is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The 3 films blew audiences away in the theaters with their shocking graphics and formidable sound, and the experience is appreciated by the special edition DVDs. Nobody can bring a classic journey to the screen like Peter Jackson, and his King Kong is true to the first script as well as the awesome views, CGI effects and sound quality of his Lord of the Rings trilogy. Presented in its original aspect proportion of 2.35:1, this enhanced-for-widescreen transfer is mighty inspiring, to say the least. Colours were refined a touch subdued and rather cool looking without doubt due to use of numerous filters. Saturation levels are never a problem.

Flesh tones also looked real and spot on. Black levels were as deep as possible permitting shadow detail to be shown off nicely and never becoming murky or ill-defined particularly considering how dark some of the film can be.

Sky Captain, arena of Tomorrow is another highly stylized visible treat with fantastic sound throughout. Another brand that’s great on the Home Theater System is the PC animated picture. You do not need to make your little one’s ears bleed each time they watch A Bug’s Life, but the visible qualities of these films when viewed close up on the home theater screen is astounding in its detail and quality. A high water mark is the superb underwater animation of Finding Nemo. Blinding colours and realistic water tones will have you thinking you are on the Great Barrier Reef yourself. A good guideline when searching for a DVD addition that’ll be excellent for your Home Theater System is if it wowed you in the theater, it’ll probably blow you away at home. DVD programmers are very aware that in today’s market, quality of sound is of equal importance ( and often trumps ) the standard of the exact film. Many films that would never be sold for private collections a decade gone become best sellers, simply due to the technology invested in them.
