Fashion Show Photoshoot

September30

If you have a chance to attend a fashion show the last thing you want to see is the back of a photographer taking photos of the show. As a photographer you need to remember that the people in the audience paid to be close to the front so they can see all the show and not the back of your head. When you get hired to photograph a runway fashion show try to make sure you have a place to stand that will not block the view of the guest. This will usually be at the end of the runway but it may me just off the side which in my opinion is a better spot. I prefer a slight angle allowing me to capture guest in the background of some of the shots.

What You May Need

  • Tripod or Monopod
  • 100-200mm Lens
  • Continous Light
  • On Camera Flash
  • Wide Lens

Well financed fashion shows contract for special runway lights and you can usually do a good job without any additional light. The continous light used for the runway will usually provide a lot of contrast and atmosphere. If you custom White Balance to neutralize the warm color of the stage light you may take away a lot of the feeling of the show. Try to capture the look of both the models and the lighting when taking your photos. Correct balance of light colors may not be what is wanted in your photos.

If the show is on a tight budget lighting may be a issue. If this is the case I would use a on camera flash but not pointed directly at the models. You still want the look of runway lighting and use your light as fill and to stop the movement for a clean in focus photo. Many of the models will be wearing palladium and platinum rings provided by a designer. You want to be sure and get a close up of any jewelry being shown. It would not hurt to ask ahead of time about designer fashion to watch for. You will be seeing a lot more jewelry pieces made from palladium since it is the new metal being used this year.

If you have to use on camera flash and have an assistant it would be a good idea to place an second flash unit off the the side. This will add depth to the photo and have it as a main light and leave your on camera flash as fill. You want to make sure to have enough light to show off the fashions but not overpower the ambiant light. You just want to add to it. A good balance will keep the look of the fashion show that the clients wanted while showing off the clothing, jewelry and model at the same time.

If given a choice I would be positioned up on a small platform so the stage is not a lot higher than the camera. I would also use a longer lens so I can capture both the entrance of the model and her pose at the end of the runway. Usually a 70-200mm will work well in both spots. If you are in a very small room then a 24-70mm may be needed to capture the end of runway shots. It is a good idea to plan ahead or at least bring a selection of back-up equipment so you have what you need if things change just before the show. Of course a back-up camera is a must for any paide event. I include at least one camera body, lens and flash as well as batteries and CF cards as part of my back-up equipment.

Always ask what size prints are required. You may have to allow extra room in your shots for final edits.

Nonetheless, what makes them stand out in the fierce music business is that they know how to shake booty. In simple terms they know how to dance! And when they dance, they give it their all. Street dance initially began in the streets of New York particularly in the Bronx and Manhattan, and it was all about free dance expression that’s completely out of the standard form of dance during the 70’s.

Eventually, the world learned about street dancing, and it became really accepted in the 80’s. In UK and the in US, all of a sudden, you can see breakdancers, wavers, lockers, and poppers everywhere you go. Like all fads, street dancing’s popularity got its fair share of rest. However, with the birth talent shows, street dancing is again attracting people more than ever!

Obviously, street dance is the craze and it is most noticeable in London, many thanks to “Diversity”, the group who won this year at Britain’s Got Talent. Seeing their moves and grooves has caused many young ones and adults to sign up at street dance classes. It is made evident by the opening of several rehearsal rooms and dance gyms in North London and in other parts of the city. Street dancing has really made a profound impact on all genders over the last five years.

Also in London, street dance is starting to be incorporated on the Physical Education subject of secondary schools. More and more people are acknowledging the health benefits of street dancing. Next your lyrics will need to be put to music. Writing music does not mean you have to be able to put notes down on paper. If you have a melody in your head, just sing it on tape, no wonderful vocals or instruments are required.

Your song will also need to be recorded as a demo. Recording a wonderful song demo is the songwriter’s most powerful step after writing a wonderful song. Music and Increased Worker Motivation: A Relationship

September11

Working in a pleasant office, particularly being able to listen to music within the company premises tends to have more advantages aside from creating a comfortable atmosphere. Several employers have indeed set up entertainment rooms for their workers as a strategy of encouraging more positive employee performance. Having music related activities within the workplace is also said to help enhance employee motivation.

Here are a few facts on the importance of office music.

Enhanced drive in company workers.

Motivation for staff members to act better in the workplace.

If you visit a number of offices and take a look inside, you’ll notice that aside from good lighting and well designed workstations that give the room a warmer feel, there is also a location where you can find TV sets and music players that may be used by employees during their lunch breaks or free time. Through the said room, office workers tend to become more comfortable and improve in the way they do their tasks. After all, who would be able to concentrate on their duties with crowded desks, insufficient lighting, not to mention the absence of soft music in the background?

A good example of a place where people hang about for almost half day is the work premises, which actually means that personalization is the key, so specifically adorning walls with paintings, wallpapers, and the likes, plus coming up with a spot meant to relieve employee stress is something that should not be forgotten. A staff member’s work quality is demonstrated by research as having a link with the company setting, most especially the tone set by the office. Evidently a brilliant idea that tells you how to produce good vibes in the workplace is to have employees listen to soft music. Even individuals who have an online business from home also rely on music from time to time to take away stress.

Playing tunes is not the only answer as music related pastime is also said to encourage workers to enhance their output. Results of a study performed in the past explained that many company workers feel that artistic events, in particular musical pursuits, are motivators in terms of job performance, alongside that, the majority of company board directors have a high regard for worker drive thereby making various companies sponsor musical recreations. Some employers sponsor music-related pastimes like showcasing the artistic talents of their employees by holding a “Battle of the Bands” and once they make money from the said event, the proceeds are used to either beautify the workplace or donated to charity.

Listening to music in the office not only makes most people perform their duties better, but also lessens stress on the job. An appropriate office environment will not be achieved only through putting paintings on view, but also by relying on fitting music that helps create workspace that is restful and still rousing in terms of work output.

Rap Music Its Words and Evolution All Through The Decades

September7

Rap music is a type of music which now enjoys an enormous fan base all over the world. Although some music lovers would rather consider rap as “noise”, the millions of rap fans would completely disagree. The rappers convey the rhymes accompanied by catchy rhythms, this is how raps becomes enjoyable.

The origin of rap music dates back to the early 70’s. The start of this genre is mostly credited to the Afro-Americans, Carribeans, and Latino’s of America. The early rappers mainly just wanted their feelings to be heard. The words are mainly about the difficulties of life, uplifting of the race, and other social issues. And because of the pain of racial bigotry, rap music reflects the strong feelings and deep angst of the rappers.

While rap music remained to be “underground” for several years in the 70’s, it has gained much fans in the late 70’s. The genre has been generously funded by producers of the Music industry, making it really popular, not only in America, but all over the world, beginning in the 80’s.

Although rap music in various countries contain varying themes when it comes to lyrics, rap music tend to carry words about sex, drugs, and violence which makes it unfortunate. This is the very reason why rap is mostly linked to gangsters who, more often than not, turn out to be criminals. The scandals in the famous rappers’ lives are now very accessible through the entertainment TV programs and the internet, and these prove that they really live complicated lives. One good example is the colorful life of the late Tupac Shakur.

Even though topics of violence, sex, drugs, political problems, and racism have become dominant topics of this kind of music, some rap lyrics still tackle the greatest gift of all which is LOVE. It all depends on the disposition of the rapper or the writer of the lyrics. Rap is still a good music category. It’s all about enjoying the rhythm. It’s all about entertainment.

Platinum record producer on hunger strike for autism

September4

In the landscape of autism-advocating celebrities so familiar to mainstream America, and mainstream media – Jenny McCarthy, Amanda Peet, Toni Braxton, etc. – trotting their children out into the spotlight like a never-ending circus show – there is another celeb who’s doing it all differently. And it should be no surprise it’s different, because he himself has Asperger’s, a form of autism, and sees the world differently.

This man is Michael Buckholtz – the platinum record producer, behind such artists as MC Hammer. This self-taught multi-instrumentalist, song-writer, producer is currently nearing the end of a 30-day hunger strike to draw national media attention to his cause.

And his cause is two-fold.

First, to show the world autism isn’t something limited to children – that autism has been around, a long time, though not nearly as hyped years ago as it is today. And there exists, living and breathing, a whole population of adults coping daily with this condition.

“There have been nationally televised features recently where one of the expert guests asked, ‘So where are all these so-called autistic adults? I don’t see them!’ This kind of misinformation is appalling,” said Buckholtz, “I wish to bring attention to the gross misrepresentation of who autistic people are and what we really act like.”

Michael continued by saying, “Many of us are invisible to the general public out of necessity. With the current media under-coverage of the varieties of autistic peoples, the general public only sees one type of autism: someone with the most severe symptoms. With this as the dominant perception, many with autism, whether it be high-functioning or not, are less likely to want their condition revealed to fellow associates, workmates, employers or anyone they come in contact with for fear they may lose a job or damage an important long-term relationship. In short, we blend in as best we can to survive. My hope is to generate massive energy around a humanitarian movement to include autistic adults in the everyday autism conversation because we are here and coping, some of us just barely.”

Michael’s second goal is as the spear-head of a grass-root, non-profit organization, Aid for Autistic Children Foundation, Inc. (www.aacfinc.org), established to raise funds for families who have undergone financial hardship as a result of autism in their families. From the uninsured autistic man who has to go to a hospital and doesn’t know where to turn, to families on the brink of bankruptcy due to treatments and therapies they’ve gone out of pocket to secure, Michael is shining a light on this completely disenfranchised segment of the population that’s at the end of their rope.

Michael continued, “The media driven wrong perception of what autism really is – and the variety of ages of people affected – makes it difficult for the poorest of people coping with autism to have their voices not only heard, but, taken seriously. I’m giving voice to the autism community’s repeated and continued request for this help – which today is virtually non-existent.”

Michael’s convictions are fierce and he’s not at all shy about talking about the trauma he’s lived through growing up autistic, his triumphs and tragedies that are part of an autistic adult’s life. While we’re so accustomed to seeing celeb parents – here’s the real article: a man who is articulate, on a philanthropic tear, smart, talented, African-American, proud of what he’s been able to do so far, and looking to change how we think about autism .

Want to try to exceed his energy for this cause? The only adequate response would be: “U can’t touch this!”

Brian Field is the co-founder of the Autism Support Network

Saxophone Buying Tips For Beginners

September3

Thinking of buying a saxophone? Here I will provide some saxophone basics that may help you in your purchase.

It’s been over 150 years now since the saxophone was invented. They were invented in Belgium by a man called Adolphe Sax. You won’t normally find them played in typical or classical music but they have become very popular in bands in popular music. They have a particularly unique sound, and their versatility means that they can be used in a variety of different songs to convey a host of different emotions. The saxophone makes a sound that is very close to the sound of the human voice, which is another reason why they produce such an emotionally charged sound.

Nowadays most saxophones are very economically priced allowing the average person to purchase and learn to play them. Obviously, the absolute best top models are not cheap, but as with everything they are also budget models and cheap imports available for the person without as much money to spend. Usually, saxophones are made from brass and are also coated with lacquer (clear or colored) despite being it in the woodwind category. The lacquer not only protects the metal but it also gives it a fine look. Usually, they are made from a 30% zinc and 70% copper mix which results in a substance called yellow brass. You can also find other types which are made from gold brass and silver brass. You will even find gold and silver plated saxophones but of course, these are not cheap.

Standard saxophones are soprano, alto, tenor and the baritone. But there are other types which are little more unusual such as the mezzo soprano, bass, conn-o-sax, contrabass, f baritone, c soprano, sopranino and quite a few more as well. Each different type of saxophone is a little different to play and many saxophone players find that even though they they have mastered the one type, it doesn’t mean that they will necessarily find the others easy to play.

There are many places where you can purchase a saxophone online, but be sure to check out the credentials of your seller first, before purchasing in order to avoid any potential problems.
