Best Dish Network Promotions

July20

You may have heard that satellite TV is a great way to get high quality TV service, but if you haven’t taken a good look at Dish Network in the past few years then you might not know exactly how good this service can be! The fact of the matter is that there are even more great channels than there ever have been before. Plus, this TV industry giant even provides a lot more services and options that go above and beyond the duty of delivering high quality TV entertainment! Free Dish TV Promotion

One great feature that Dish Network delivers that will make watching TV much better than it ever has been before is the Digital Video Recorder! A DVR from Dish Network will be able to record any TV show, news program, sporting event, or movie that comes in over your satellite signal. If that sounds to you a lot like what a VCR does, then you are half right. The fact of the matter is that while the basic function of a VCR and a DVR is the same, there are actually a number of significant differences that will make you want to upgrade to a DVR right away! A DVR is different because it records video on a hard drive instead of a video cassette tape and it’s programmed through a graphical user interface instead of a numeric interface. Those differences might not seem that significant to you until you think about the fact that a hard disk can store a lot more video than a video cassette tape (up to three hundred and fifty hours of video in some models) and a graphical user interface makes a DVR much easier to program than a VCR ever was! With the ease of use of a Dish Network DVR, you will not only want to actually use the device to record video when you aren’t at home to see the live TV show that you’re recording, but you’ll want to record everything that you watch before you watch it! It’s just that convenient!

Another great new kind of entertainment technology that’s delivered by Dish Network is HDTV! HDTV is short for high definition television and it makes home entertainment centers into home theaters. It does this by providing a much more detailed picture, a much higher level of sound quality, and the same 16:9 aspect ratio that makes movie theaters so much better to watch movies in then the typical living room. Many of the popular flat screen TV sets are capable of displaying HDTV content, and you really need the extensive HDTV channels from Dish Network in order to get the most out of your HDTV set. Better still, since the roll out of Dish Network’s new Turbo HD service last summer, it has been the undisputed front runner in the war to offer the most HDTV channels possible! In fact, it now offers more than one hundred national HDTV channels and many more local HDTV channels to its subscribers!

Free Dish TV Deals

Naturally Dish Network still offers plenty of great standard definition content as well. In fact, it has an entertainment package that can deliver over two hundred and eighty channels right to your home! At the other extreme, Dish Network also has a very economical package that still delivers a full one hundred channels for you to enjoy!

Clearly Dish Network is the best choice for all of your TV needs! Free Dish TV Promotional Offers

Devil Doll

July15

Many things have the name devil doll. Some of them will be explored.

Devil Doll

Devil Doll is a character in a flash animation web series called Redskull and Devil Doll. A floating skull with a mohawk is named Redskull. Rock ‘n Roll is his passion. When he says let’s kick it it means he’s about to launch into some rock ‘n roll. He has a tiny demon as a friend. He has a squeaky voice, but can rap with the best of them. He has no problem getting women. He uses his demon powers to acquire coffee to wake up Redskull. There were eight episodes produced.

In 1936 a horror film was made, called Devil Doll. It featured Maureen O’Sullivan and Drew Barrymore’s great uncle, Lionel Barrymore. Barrymore portrays a criminal who escapes from prison. He shared a cell with a mad scientist who could shrink people. He wanted to protect the planet’s resources and shrinking men so they would use less. But the scientists dies shortly after their escape. Lionel decides to use the shrink technique to gain revenge on those who harmed him. The conservation message was ahead of its time.

Another Devil Doll film saw the screen in 1964. This time a sinister ventriloquist was the star. His dummy, Hugo, is really his former assistant whose soul has been captured. His plan is to create a female dummy and trap a woman’s soul within it. The film ends with the soul inside the dummy taking over the body of the ventriloquist. The dummy now contains the ventriloquist.

There’s an experimental rock band called Devil Doll. Mr. Doctor started it. He used newspaper ads to recruit members. Eventually two groups formed. One was in Italy, while the other one was in what’s now Slovania. They combined when the iron curtain fell. In 2005 a fan started a letter campaign after the group stopped producing music. The point was to ask the band to do some work. For his efforts the fan received a signed copy of an original print of one of the bands popular songs.

There’s a rockabilly artist called Devil Doll. She calls herself the next up-and-coming music sensation. But apparently not many people have been impressed.

Devil Doll

Devil Doll is a popular name.

Fiction fantasy literature — What happens when you mix together Jesus, the Lord Of The Rings, and What the Bleep Do We Know? A whole lot of fun!

July14

Fiction fantasy literature can be very entertaining as well as thought provoking; includes books like the Lord Of The Rings, Perfume, and Creator by M.A. Hills. The latter is one of the most recent fiction fantasy literature books, which, interestingly, has elements of the first two. Creator is where Jesus, the Lord Of The Rings, and What the Bleep Do We Know meet. It is quite bizarre in its turn of the century language, combined with what seems to be modern quantum physics concepts, and popular spiritual, philosophical attitudes like: living in the moment. It describes inventing a brave new world in the heart of the wastelands, which is reminiscent of the Venus project: a progressive, daring, and practical new look of how our future could be, using “real” modern science and technology to bring real progress to the human race. In fact Creator carries the same upbeat and practical message of hope like the Venus project. Take a good look at it here: Venus Project

At the same time the fiction fantasy literature of Creator is like a myth. It has all the elements of mythology: deep interwoven, layered symbolic meanings, all being correct depending on the readers level of understanding. Its narrative is straightforward, and simultaneously a highly meaningful symbolic almost biblical epic. The reader could delve into the story one day and pull out meaning, and pick it up the next day and see it in a whole new light. Take a good look at it now: spiritual fiction

Most readers have loved Creator. It has been called enlightening, well written, humorous, daring, yet wordy, wonderfully philosophical, and sometimes too philosophical. You will love it, or hate it, but you won’t be bored of it. You will of to make your own conclusions of this fiction fantasy literature. Some critics have hated it, 90% of all readers have loved it in some way. They said Creator is definitely entertaining, thought provoking, passionate, and highly inspirational. For some people it is the best fiction fantasy literature they have ever read. For now I will say no more. I will let the beginning of the book talk to you instead: “Creator” by M. A. Hills, this is Part One: The Jewel, chapter 1:

In the days of yore when the Christian God sent his only son to save the wretched human race, the Olympian spirits sent a saviour of their own. Unlike Jesus, the saintly pagan son was not without sin, nor error; nor would he ignore temptations, and desire. Ill-fated from the start—he would not become a humble carpenter either, but one who is skilled in warfare, thievery, and deceit. To be sure, if the gods had great ambitions for their Olympian saviour, it seems they were inclined to keep him in the dark. For he who would begin his life without a name, or an inkling of whence he came—the last descendant of a vanishing legacy—would someday be called to perform great miracles, whether he liked it or not. His providence was to become a creator; and now his story will be told.
Thus, during the month of Martius, in the year 1 AD, Virginia Marius became pregnant in a very extraordinary way. She had neither a boyfriend, nor any kind of sexual relationship. Her doctor swore he had never seen anything like it before, swore she was still a virgin. Her father swore it was the work of iniquity: of the mischievous spirits of the dead. Worse still, he would see to it that the child was cut from her belly—like they did to save the life of Caesar—and exterminated…

Creator is like Rembrandt, some people have said, rich deep words instead of thick pigments on a canvas. Grab Creator right now: fiction fantasy literature

Bands Coming Back

July12

Comeback Bands

In my late teens and early twenties, my musical taste was pretty hip. Before that, it was rather touch and go, depending on the crowd I was hanging with at the time. For a long stretch after I became a parent I listened to only my existing cds or the classic rock stations. It was easy and comfortable, I knew all the words already, and the classic rock reminded me of my childhood. Several years back, once my children got old enough to program an mp3 player and develop their own taste in music, I realized I should start listening to some new music for them. I put on my old favourite alternative rock station, but was worried I would hate everything I heard.

I was extremely excited to discover that I heard two songs on the first day that I absolutely loved. I was delighted that I was still hip enough to love the newest, coolest music. The minute I got home I checked to see what my new favourite bands were. (Can I just say how much I love the internet, just for lyrics sites alone? I don’t know how many times I have said “what’s that song, you know, it goes “blah blah blah” Now I can find out in a few seconds, it’s the best!)

Reaction: You have got to be kidding me. You don’t really mean Weezer?!?! Because, although I was delighted that this meant Weezer had a new album out, it didn’t really reinforce my “I’m still cool enough to like new music” theory, because technically I was probably just recognizing something I already loved. My Weezer cds from a DECADE ago were well-worn on my shelf.

The second song got my hopes up, because I had never heard of the Gorillaz, but upon further research I discovered the song, Feel good Inc. was a collaboration of the singer from Blur (also a favourite from ten years ago) and De La Soul (a band whose tape -yes, I said TAPE – was given to me in the 11th grade!)

I decided that I may not be hip on the newest music, but I still have super cool taste. And my kids are ahead of the game. We went with them to their first concert last fall, another comeback band of course: The Who.

As far as comeback bands go, a really hot comeback band this year: New Kids on the Block

I watch other ladies in my age range lusting over Jon Bon Jovi’s comeback career and just laugh thinking of that frosted lion’s mane he used to wear.

As an adult in denial of my accumulating years, of course I am thrilled that so many bands are doing so well with their “comebacks”. If they were and are still talented at what they do, by all means keep doing it!! It takes me back, and encourages me at the same time: If they can still rock, I can’t be THAT old.

I’m just waiting any day now to look over my daughter’s shoulder to see her searching for New Kids on the Block songs or the like. I’ll whisper, so her dad doesn’t hear “It goes like this. I know all their lyrics. I attended their concert in grade nine.” I wish I would’ve kept my New Kids on the Block t-shirt!

Riders In The Sky

July10

An 80s Western music comic group, Riders in the Sky are the winners of two Grammy Awards for their great performances in famous motion films: For the Birds by Pixar and Toy Story 2. Initially, Riders in the Sky had only three members, Douglas Green alias Ranger Doug, Paul Woodrow Chrisman alias Woody Paul and Fred LaBour alias Too Slim, Woody Paul (Paul Woodrow Chrisman) and Ranger Doug (Douglas Green). Joey Miskulin known as Joey the Cowpolka King joined the group to play the accordion in the 90s. The Riders in the Sky have been incredibly active over the years, and their impact on the public has not diminished, on the contrary, respect and popularity just added up to their fame.

Riders In The Sky

The Riders in the Sky distinguish themselves not only by their artistic talents but also by the high education level of the group members: Ranger Doug has a Master degree in literature, Too Slim in Wildlife Management and Woody Paul a PhD in theoretical plasma Physics. If that is not an impressive array of diplomas, then what is?That really is great academic education! Even so, Riders in the Sky built personal professional lives not many other groups had the chance to accomplish; in their twenty-five year history, they have more than 5,200 live shows, 200 radio acts, 300 television appearances, over 700 Grand Ole Opry participations and three TV series. Add thirty albums to the list and you get the summary of a lifetime dedicated to art.

Riders in the Sky also hosted the Saturday morning shows at CBS from 1991 to 1992 as well as many Christmas events organized for television purposes. On the other hand, Riders in the Sky remained committed to the traditional Western style that made them famous. Music and comedy often combine in their shows in some of great parody sows. Wit, music talent and respect for the old American spirit are the values to have kept their popularity high for so many years.

Riders In The Sky

The tours and general agenda of the Riders in the Sky are posted on the web page of the group for fans to consult. You can also have a look over the group’s biography and check with their awesome hall of fame. For years in a raw, Riders in the Sky received the title of Group of the Year, while also being awarded for albums on a variety of occasions too. From this perspective, it is explainable why Billboard magazine calls them a major event in the history of American music.

Devils Tower Wyoming

July8

Many people first saw Devils Tower Wyoming in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It is a unique looking structure with a flat top and deep gouges down the sides. One movie character built models of it in mashed potatoes and dirt. Eventually some aliens landed there. No aliens have ever really visited there, but it’s still a cool place.

Devils Tower Wyoming

Lets clear something up from the start. Devils Tower Wyoming is a mountain, not a city. Speaking of which, the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point has some amazing topographical maps on its website. Understanding the elevation of the tower is important. That’s incredible, as the saying goes.

Now for a second Devils Tower Wyoming point. It is written without the apostrophe. Most people would write it “devil’s”. But the name has never been written that way. So don’t be alarmed, or think it’s a mistake when it’s seen without the apostrophe before the “s.”

Devils Tower Wyoming became a national monument on September 24, 1906. It was an act of President Theodore Roosevelt, known popularly as Teddy. His close friends never used Teddy. The Panama Canal treaty was also one of his ideas. The national monument encompasses 5.45 square kilometers. That’s 1374 acres.

The Devils Tower Wyoming stands 1267 feet above the surrounding land. That’s almost a mile above sea level. It’s tall. But people still climb it. 4000 people a year, 1% of the 400,000 who travel there, climb the tower. It’s certainly not as dangerous as a place like Mount Everest. Of course, the most dangerous part of climbing Mount Everest is getting down the mountain. That’s because so many people climb that there is a line, an actual queue, to make the descent. People often die of exposure to the elements while waiting. There’s no such danger at the tower.

Devils Tower Wyoming first began to form about 200 million years ago during the Triassic Period. Sandstone, silt stone and shale are all a part of it. It’s very colorful.
